Vitis aestivalis

Common name: Pigeon grape, Summer grape

A member of the grape family, it is a robust woody vine with high climbing or sprawling stems that bear branched tendrils opposite the alternate simple leaves, they are usually broader than longer with three to five shallow or deep lobes. Flowering is from May to July. The fruit is a small grape 5–14 mm diameter, dark purple or black in color. It is the official state grape of Missouri.

The grapes are edible.
